Police and paramedics were met by a “confrontational” face as they entered a house on the south coast of NSW where a woman lay dead.
The 51-year-old woman was discovered after a family member called police on Friday morning saying they were unable to contact her.
Rescuers arrived at the house in Numbaa, near Nowra, shortly before 11:30 am.
“It was quite confrontational for the first responders,” Detective Inspector Scott Nelson told NCA NewsWire.
“There was evidence that she had suffered fatal injuries.”
About half an hour later, a 37-year-old man was arrested near the crime scene.
The man was taken to the police station in Nowra, where he assisted officers with their investigation, police said.
“We think he was known to the woman,” said Mr Nelson.
No charges have been filed.
