Boy dies in Markham and motorcyclist dies in Brampton in collisions just 30 minutes apart

An 11-year-old boy was hit by a car in Markham on Friday night.

Provincial police say the accident happened just after 4 p.m. on the north driveway of Highway 407

The kid was driving down Warden Avenue and was hit while crossing the slip road to the freeway.

According to the police, the driver concerned stayed on site.

The boy was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and pronounced dead around 11:14 p.m.

The ramp from Warden Avenue to Highway 407 and the northbound lanes of the highway were closed, but have been reopened since then.

About 30 minutes later, a motorcyclist was pronounced dead in Brampton after being hit by a car.

The Peel Police were called to Bovaird Drive East and Great Lakes Drive at 11:48 p.m. because of the collision.

Police said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, where the driver of the car stayed after the incident.

The following road closures are due to the incident:

Bovaird Drive is closed from Highway 410 to Dixie Road, Great Lakes Drive is closed from Bovaird Drive to Nautical Dr, and Nasmith Street is closed from Bovaird Drive to Newport Street.
