Manitoba health officials to give COVID-19 update

WINNIPEG – Manitoba’s health authorities will provide an update on the province’s COVID-19 cases on Monday.

Dr. Brent Roussin, Provincial Chief Public Health Officer, and Dr. Joss Reimer, Medical Director of the Manitoba Vaccine Implementation Task Force, will speak at the Manitoba Legislative Building at 12:30 p.m. CTV News Winnipeg will be streaming the event live.

This press conference comes after a weekend of 649 new cases in the province – 357 on Saturday and 292 on Sunday. This brings the total number of active cases to 4,569 and the five-day test positive rate to 12.3 percent.

Over the weekend, Manitoba also announced 10 additional deaths among people with COVID-19, bringing the Manitoba death toll to 1,052.

The province will announce new information on worrisome variants from Tuesday to Saturday.
