This is the terrifying moment a large group of men fight with weapons in the middle of a busy street just yards from young children.
The incident happened on the Coast Road in Bettystown, Co Meath over the weekend.
Videos emerged on social media on Sunday of the chaotic scenes in the centre of the popular coastal village.
The busy main street was thronged with sunseekers as the country enjoyed the hottest day of the year so far.
And dramatic footage shows one man armed with what appears to be garden shears, while another holds what appears to be a blade.
The two groups exchange blows in the middle of the street with cars forced to stop on either side.
Gardai rushed to the scene but said that the fight had dispersed before officers arrived, and that no complaint has yet been made.
However they added that investigations are still continuing into the incident.
A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí were alerted to a report of men fighting on the Coast Road, Bettystown on Sunday 30th May, 2021 at approximately 2.30p.m.
“Gardaí attended the scene and no persons were present.
“No complaint made and investigations ongoing.”
