The University of Namibia has set up a vehicle polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing facility for Covid-19 on the Hage Geingob campus in Windhoek.

The facility is open Monday to Saturday from 07:30 to 09:30.

Talking to new era This week, Unam’s head of diagnostics lab, Dr Emmanuel Nepolo, said the drive-thru is a way to deliver a full package of Covid-19 help to society from testing and giving results without sending patients away.

Covid-19 testing sites are an effective solution to quickly collect samples from suspected cases with minimal risks to healthcare staff and other patients

Nebulo added, “The goal was to offer a complete and comprehensive package to the community. This was inexpensive because we are using our own buildings and I encourage people to use this facility effectively.” He explained that people are required to book online and get confirmation before making payments of N$850 before taking the test and getting results on the same day. Adding that the university has made provisions to allow people to enter.

This is the second initiative to open in Windhoek after Namib Laboratories set up a drive-through testing facility for Covid-19 at Wanderers Sports Club in Pioneerspark
