Edo: Congratulates Ize-Iyamu Obaseki on Supreme Court Victory – Yumruk Newspapers

Attorney General Osagie Ize-Iyamu on Monday congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki, a candidate for the All Progress Congress for the Edo 2020 Governor’s Election, on his victory in the Supreme Court.

In a letter to the governor, Ize-Iyamu said the apex court’s decision on Friday put an end to a series of lawsuits in Obaseki’s second-term governor’s questionnaire.

In the letter, the APC candidate asked Obaseki to accept the congratulatory message that all the work is done.

“Your Excellency, your supporters have filed 13 different pre-election lawsuits against my deputy and me for your notes; everyone wants to deprive us of participation in the elections.

“On our part, the Popular Front Party had only one case against Your Excellency and your party.

“We did not go to the Election Tribunal on purpose, not because we do not have a problem, but because we think it is better to face the work at hand, because our party congratulates you at the national level.

“We are happy that all this work is over. Now everything is over, accept my congratulations, “he said.

The AXC governor’s flag bearer appealed to the governor to consider 14 constituencies that have not been represented in the provincial assembly since 2019.

He said that although the issue was in court, the governor was in the position of considering an out-of-court solution to the issue in the general interest of our state.

“Having said that, I would like to appeal to you to carefully consider the relevant issues of the 14 constituencies, including the two regions of local government – Oredo and two of your deputy’s local leadership – Etsako West. Edo State Assembly.

“Although the issue is in court, in the general interest of our state, you are in a position to consider an out-of-court solution to the issue.

“It would be good if His Excellency intervened in the issues of the recently suspended and removed Local Government Chairmen, Deputy Chairmen, Advisors and Supervisory Boards.

“Our appeal is to consider paying them because it is too late for them to return to their offices,” he said.

“It can be done out of court,” he said.

Ize-Iyamu’s letter reads: “Your Excellency, as an opposition party in the state, we in the APC have a duty to ensure that your government always does the right thing for us.”

The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a claim that the document filed by the Popular Front Party and its border court against Obaseki for lack of dignity was a forgery.
