PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal on Friday criticized the government’s idea of a 10% increase in the number of recipients and said the move was a “grave joke”.
“The 10% increase in wages after inflation has become the biggest story and the worst joke the government has ever had,” sent Iqbal as Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin presented the state budget to the National Assembly. He added that the move was like “salt in their wounds”.
“We deny this. At least a 20% increase should be made, “the former interior minister said.
Shaukat Tarin presents the third PTI budget
All eyes were on Parliament when Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin presented the budget 2021-22 on Friday.
The finance minister was greeted with derogatory remarks from Opposition banks, with members shouting insults and insulting the finance minister by mocking him in praise of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s financial efforts.
He announced that the total budget was set at Rs8,478 billion and taxed at 5,829 billion.
Among the proposals announced, the federal government increased salaries and pensions by 10%.
