A Gwadar fisherman caught a 48-pound Sua fish last Sunday.
Initially, it sold for $ 30,000 per kg which later increased to Rs1,000.
What makes this species so rare is the air bladder used in the production of surgical instruments. Cords for healing internal organs are made from the bladder.
“Sua meat is not edible but is used as a medicine only,” said Abdur Rahim Baloch, assistant director of environmental management at Gwadar Development Authority.
Two days ago, a Jiwani fisherman sold a giant 26ua Sua for Rs800,000. These fish are known to be in high demand in the foreign pharmaceutical market.
