Biden, Don Lemon roasted for performances during CNN town hall: ‘Uncomfortable to watch’

CNN’s heavily-promoted City Hall event with President Biden lit up social media for the wrong reasons on Wednesday night, when everything from the crowd to the appearance of host Don Lemon was toasted.

Bloomberg News reporter Jennifer Epstein started things by pointing out the tiny amount. “CNN took great care not to show that no one showed up at Biden City Hall and that most of the room was empty,” said radio host Mark Simone noticed.

The Bongino report declared the event as a “train wreck” while the President of the Media Research Center Center Brent Bozell named it “Rubbish.”

National Review editor Jack Butler criticized the “contrived” CNN event, which he felt was a far cry from the successful town hall events of the past. He said the format should be abolished and called it a “hideous spectacle not appropriate for a self-governing republic” that is getting worse.

“With the help of the shrill sheen incarnated by the format, Biden ran largely through a kind of CliffsNotes of current events, invoking either his preferred cliché or his current talking point or a variety of emotional or ironic rhetorical means as he saw fit.” wrote Butler.

“If CNN had shame or respect for the citizens of a self-governing republic, the network would never broadcast any of those idiotic events again,” Butler added. “But don’t expect that to happen anytime soon.”

Editor in Chief of NewsBusters Curtis Houck noticed that eight Democrats were allowed to ask questions while only three Republicans were given the opportunity.

IT’S NOT SOLD OUT: BIDEN TALKS TO THE SEMI-EMPTY ROOM IN THE CNN TOWN HALL

Tom Elliott, founder of Grabien Media, sarcastically said Biden “crushed” it when he shared a viral video of the president struggling to answer a question. Elliott’s clip has amassed over 2.2 million views and has generated a wealth of criticism. Some viewers were upset that Lemon did not point out Biden’s fights, while others simply felt that the entire ordeal was painful to watch.

Lemon also referred to Biden as “the big guy” during the presidential town hall.

“You’ve been the big guy in the White House for six months now. Can you take us behind the scenes, something out of the ordinary or unusual that catches your eye?” asked Lemon.

“The Big Guy” was specifically used to refer to Biden in a leaked email thread allegedly about Joe’s son Hunter Biden a deal with a Chinese energy company. In 2020, Fox News confirmed the authenticity of an email dated May 13, 2017 detailing a discussion of “compensation packages” for those involved in a deal. One section of the email contained a decency split that read “10 from H for the big one?” which was later confirmed to refer to Joe Biden.

representative Elise Stefanik, RN.Y. also commented on this connection and tweeted, “Wow. Even Don Lemon knows that Joe Biden is the “Big Guy”! #HuntersEmails. “

Fox News’ Lindsay Kornick contributed to this report.
