CNN’s Biden town hall flops, finishes behind Fox News, MSNBC with only 1.5 million viewers

CNN’s heavily promoted City Hall event with President Biden didn’t resonate with Americans on Wednesday night as it was beaten by Fox News and even ended with a smaller audience than MSNBC.

CNN Biden’s Don Lemon-hosted City Hall averaged just 1.5 million viewers from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. ET, while Fox News averaged 2.7 million viewers over the same period. MSNBC averaged 1.6 million eyeballs, putting CNN’s chat with the president in last place among relevant cable news networks.

Fox News beat CNN by a staggering 83 percent during Biden Town Hall with regular programs on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” and a special edition of “Hannity,” in which Florida Republicans Governor Ron DeSantis, Sen. Marco Rubio, Rep. Maria Salazar and The Mayor of Miami, Francis Suarez.

Every event at Fox News City Hall over the past five years outperformed CNN’s event with Biden on Wednesday.

CNN City Hall also failed to beat Fox News among the major adult populations aged 25 to 54. CNN averaged 306,000 demo viewers during the event, compared to 464,000 for Fox News.

CNN not only finished last during Biden Town Hall. The liberal network also ended up behind Fox News and MSNBC during prime time from 8pm to 11pm ET.

BIDEN, DON LEMON ROASTED FOR PERFORMANCE AT CNN TOWN HALL: “UNCOMFORTABLE TO WATCH”

Fox News averaged 2.3 million prime-time viewers and MSNBC came in second with 1.6 million. Although President Biden appeared on the network, CNN was content with just 1.3 million prime-time viewers.

While Biden failed to lift the tarnished network from last seat, it helped Lemon break the one million viewer threshold that he does not regularly comply with.

One interesting moment that CNN’s tiny audience saw was when Lemon referred to Biden as “the big guy” during the Presidential City Hall.

“You’ve been the big guy in the White House for six months now. Can you take us behind the scenes, something out of the ordinary or unusual that catches your eye?” asked Lemon.

“The Big Guy” was specifically used to refer to Biden in a leaked email thread alleging Joe’s son Hunter Biden made a deal with a Chinese energy company. In 2020, Fox News confirmed the authenticity of an email dated May 13, 2017 detailing a discussion of “compensation packages” for people involved in a deal. One section of the email contained a decency split that read “10 from H for the big one?” which was later confirmed to refer to Joe Biden.

MEP Elise Stefanik, RN.Y., also commented on this connection and tweeted: “Wow. Even Don Lemon knows that Joe Biden is the “Big Guy”! #HuntersEmails. “
