TIME was widely ridiculed after the magazine unveiled its upcoming cover picture on Friday ahead of the upcoming summit between sunglasses-wearing President Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“This cover tries to make Joe Biden look cool, but even in its flattering rendering of his face – a drawing because he would look incredibly old and weak in a recent high-resolution image – he has that typical gaping mouth that sets him apart, you see clueless and afraid of Putin, who stares at him with a confident grin, “political satirist Tim Young told Fox News.
The illustration shows Biden in his signature aviator goggles with the headline “Takeing on Putin”.
THE CRYING MIGRANT GIRL FOR TEMPORARY MAGAZINE COVER WAS NOT SEPARATED FROM MOTHER, SAYS FAMILY
TIME spent years posting unflattering illustrations of former President Donald Trump, complete with a pair of covers showing his “meltdown” phases and another cover showing Trump’s Oval Office in the midst of a “stormy” situation fills with water. But Trump’s unflattering illustrations aren’t the only time the magazine has used his cover to cast him in a negative light.
“I can’t help but remember the cover of TIME where their editors were telling a lie by editing a Honduran child they claimed was separated from their parents by Trump, on the cover with Trump – it turned out the kid wasn’t separated at all, but that picture was used to ruin Trump, which was their entire biased game for four years, “said Young.
In 2018, it was revealed that a little girl, featured in a viral photo, crying when a U.S. Border Protection agent arrested her mother – was used by TIME magazine to promote the Trump administration’s family separation policies symbolize – according to her mother, never separated from her mother became her own father.
TIME, standing on the controversial cover despite the new information, called it “an image America couldn’t ignore” and interviewed the photographer, as well as other outlets. TIME even added one more items all about the cover and “the story behind it”.
TOOBIN, CUOMO scandals prove liberals can get away with anything on CNN, experts say
The magazine even brought Trump and Putin together ahead of their 2018 summit. Now that Biden is in office, readers have noticed the hypocrisy.
“Giving him a pipeline of leverage in Europe is NOT taking him in. It gives in, ”former Acting Director of the National Intelligence Service (DNI) Richard Grenell replied, while Kyle Smith of the National Review added, “DNC press releases aren’t that scrappy.”
“I wonder why there wasn’t such a ‘Trump Takes Soleimani’ cover,” one reader said considered.
Many others have posted cover feedback on Twitter, including Tom Bevan of Real Clear Politics, referring to the press inquiring about Biden’s ice cream taste last month.
